Normster
Normster (that's me) is a gear-a-holic and wannbe tone freak!
I've been playing guitar on and off since I was 11 years old...some 45 years ago. Unfortunately, I peaked at the ripe old age of 16 and have been going downhill ever since.
I like to play blues ... mostly because old people look cool playing blues. Nothin' sadder than a 56 year old trying to shred. I also play "smoove" jazz because it's easy to fake.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Played folk music as a teen. Quit playing for many years, then started learning blues and a few jazz standards.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
99% of the time, I just play at home over backing tracks. Occasionally I get out to gig with friends.
Your musical influences
Larry Carlton is probably my major influence but I try to cop riffs from anyone I can.
What equipment do you use?
Strat, Tele, Artcore AS83, Fender Blues Deluxe, Brown Note D'Lite 44 Bluesmaster, Trainwreck Express (clone), homebrew Vibroverb, '70s Dumble ODS (clone), lots of prototypes from my workshop.
Anything else?
Hmmm...let's see. Oh yeah, I also build amplifiers. I've built "clones" of two of the greatest amps ever made, the Dumble ODS and Trainwreck Express. Of course, I've never heard either of those amps live and in person, but people tell me they're great. It's kinda turned me into a gear snob because now I can't stand playing my stock Blues Deluxe anymore.
