Noizepunk and BorisLove
Noizepunk & BorisLove, an eclectic duo unifying various musical influences and creating a new and exciting sound.
Noizepunk & BorisLove is the brain child of cellist Borislav Strulev and composer-guitarist-rapper Gene Pritsker. The two musicians began working together in the late 90s and experimented with combining the large beautiful sound of Borislav's cello with various electronic elements. The initial experiments and recordings led to a desire to perform live together. Gene devised a technique on his computer where he can, through various programs, play and manipulate various sounds, beats, samples etc. He calls what he does Di.J., a digital jockey, since everything is controlled and performed through the computer. With this control he is able to perform as if he is playing an instrument with many possibilities. Now when the two perform, its an actual communication between two musicians as opposed to an instrumentalist playing with a prerecorded track.
Their first concert under the guise of Noizepunk & BorisLove was in Moscow, Russia at the world famous Tchaikovsky Hall and at Osobnyak of P. Smirnov. The program was called Cello Lounge, in reference to one of their most favorite tracks Cello Lounge based on the Debussy cello sonata which was selected to represent The Crescendo festival on a CD presented to president Vladimir Putin. Their next big concert was at St. Marks church In New York presented by The International Street Cannibals. At this concert they mixed the music form Cello Lounge with new compositions they are performing called The Anesthetic effect. The duo will appear at the Outreach Festival in Schwaz, Austria in the summer of 08.
Noizepunk & BorisLove are combining elements form classical, jazz, electronic, house, hip-hop, experimental, etc. It is hard to put into one word the genre of music they are playing, hence we do not try to classify. The originality lies in the openness to musical sound in all its forms, in getting out of the box which constricts our understanding and this duo does just that.
The two musicians are also joined by other world class performers, including Chanda Rule (voice), Franz Hackl (trumpet), Dan Barrett (cello), Dave Criminal Cello Gotay (rap), and many other great musicians.
