"With careful attention to song craft and heartfelt musicianship, No Artificial Colors
adeptly builds to feverish, bluesy climaxes. Drummer Ahmed Kharem and bassist George Farmer weave a lush tapestry, while Jeff Chaffa's driving guitar riffs and yearning vocals twist the center of this emotional hurricane. No Artificial Colors restores my faith in contemporary rock."

No Artificial Colors is a unique sound experience, built on well-crafted, eclectic songwriting, powerful playing, and soulful vocals. Founded by NYC singer/songwriters Jeff Chaffa (guitar/vocals) and Ahmed Kharem (drums/vocals), and joined by bassist George Farmer, No Artificial Colors blends rock, blues, soul, country, and world rhythms into a rich sound stew.
THE SOUL OF N.A.C.
Jeff Chaffa’s voice is expressive and soulful, occasionally soaring into the heights of the rock stratosphere. He is also a talented blues/rock guitarist, with a penchant for melodic riffs and thoughtful phrasing. Jeff has appeared in many venues in the NYC area as well as in various clubs throughout the U.S. His vocal and guitar chops were honed through several early rock cover band experiences and his solo original acoustic-turned-rock trio, which began at The Bitter End. He writes and arranges for the band.
During the past decade, Ahmed Kharem has performed with notable jazz artists, such as Barry Harris, as well as numerous NYC underground groups, such as Glim. He also appeared with Jeff Buckley and Stereolab, and has performed on NYC and regional college radio. Coming mainly from a jazz background, Ahmed plays with the concept and feel of a jazz musician and the raw emotion and power of a rock drummer. As a multi-instrumentalist (drums, keys, guitar, vocals), Ahmed writes and arranges for the band. His melodic approach is a crucial component to the sound of No Artificial Colors.
