There never was a band in the true sense, although faintly remember trying our level best to put one together seven years ago in high school. Those were the glory days, and dreams always felt possible. We would try living up to them in every way, not realizing that it would only last three months when we actually got down to serious stuff as thats about how far our shoe string budget took us.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Hmmm... no proof what so ever that we existed, except for whats left in our minds. You could say that it was unwritten history. Rather its written now that I've made mention of it but is not worth much attention.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Currently, we all are miles apart, leading our own quiet lifes. So this is lead guitarist and vocalist, who went down under for almost five years hence, after we moved on with our lives. One of the reasons I left both memories and passion for the guitar behind was in pursuit of more realistic dreams, which happens to be game development. In fact I remember Bassist and me sitting for hours on Rythm Guitarists computer (as we couldn't afford a PC in those days) trying to figure out what Linear Algebra and Matrices were all about when ID Software had just released Doom LOL, and Rythm Guitarist was busy trying to figure out chords for the next number.
We started out with a bang, for kids that young against monsters holding power chords on Fenders or the likes, which was our very first public appearance. It was an open school rock contest, and who ever thought there would be this band to walk in with three third grade locally made acoustic guitars barely managing to stay in tune, and a congoist who borrowed host equipment. Hold on, what happened to Bassist you ask? Right, the third acoustic was rigged up with ultra heavy gauge acoustic strings (just the top four), a custom bridge and nut to span the entire width of the acoustic fret board, just so that lazy Bassist wouldn't run into neighbouring strings in concert, least the Matrices gave him a high and sent him off to the imaginary LOL!
Would you believe it, we actually bagged first place? It was like a dream come true for us. We had played two numbers, one was Europes "I'll cry for you!" and the other was a Don Henley number I keep forgetting the name of. We were taken aback, so much so that when the judges talked to the bands we were curious as to how mature heavy metal band members (judges) even thought that we deserved it. They told us something I will never forget - "Noise and heavy equipment is not what sets a band apart. Its the spirit, the feel, how well one is able to cover the original and improvise on it that does."
Well, after that we were in seventh heaven, but as hard as we tried we never did get good equipment or support to go the distance atleast for another show casing. So that was the special moment, and that was about it. Nothing could beat it though when it lasted, and yes, everyone of us enjoyed the standing ovation and applause and we enjoyed playing for that crowd!
Hmmm... hope that answers the question "Do you play live?", as there is no band anymore. In fact the songs on this page are not any of the ones that we composed during that period. But the memory of the glory days are coming back and I hope to compose a few for the sake of reliving it in my own special way.
Your musical influences
My musical taste has taken many lanes, walked many alleys, and is still under the influence with miles to go without an end, if I may say so.
But to mention a few that lasted were Halen, Gilbert, Clapton, Bettencourt, Satriani, Vai and currently Petrucci. Though I don't even think of comparing, their riffs still ring in my head.
What equipment do you use?
This is something I have gone into quite a bit but never managed to cut a track. I have only the vast sea of possibilities on midi to blame for this. I never end up composing anything, always getting side tracked with exploring them. I don't have any midi instrument other than my sound cards synthesizer, which is bad enough. You can imagine handing me a midi capable processor. That would be the end of my creativity and the beginning of my curious experiments, LOL!
But still need to experiment as I'm definite that I would use them extensively in the music that I envision for my right now behind the scenes game development.
Anything else?
Need I say more to get you bored any further? Will spare you LOL, but do get a listen to the stuff I've uploaded with lots more to come and tell me how I can improvise. Or even better, throw a sarcastic comment on my message board so I'll know you enjoyed it LOL.
