Nicatas Drumer

Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
"Nicatas Drumer" started out in 97'. We've been involved in other bands, more than the fingers on both your hands. Previous to the new line up now , Nicatas Drumer used to consist only of two "members", Longinus and Morg. We had a very narrow concept about how things should be done, for instance, we decided there would only, for eternity, be two members, cause of past difficulties. But...things change, and it's working a whole lot better with four "members". So far we have unleashed 3 demons, the first was "Stygian", in 2001. Now, the name "Nicatas Drumer" only came into infection at the end of 2001. We always refer to 1997, cause it's still the same band, and same two original members alongside the new line-up. Our second demo was entitled "Impure Grandeur", which originally consisted of 6 songs. But, just to save time & cut costs, we decided to add to add our first demo onto "Impure Grandeur", making it a total of 8 songs. The third MCD, self released, once a fucking gain!, was recorded this year, 2003, was entitled "Third Offering". We were not entirely too fucking proud of it, and the recording studio did a lousy job as to how we wanted it to be. Anyhow, the two not so new members, joined forces with Nicatas Drumer about mid' December 02'. First it was Athame, then two weeks down the line (think about two weeks), Abyssidian joined our team of evil. 'Twas Athame, psychotic as he may be, that informed us of another axe wielder good enough to match our evil intentions. Still in our minds we really believed they would only be part of the band as live/session musicians. HAH! Not long after, Athame showed us his fat tits (really sick!) and Abyssidian his abilities to consume more food than an entire starving nation, and never gain any weight, we knew then, they have super powers. what better than to invite them into our team of evil and become black metal super heroes! As if it wasn't fucked up enough with only two people, but I must admit, it's even better now! Either way, we're all talented musicians, we're in a fucking band, AND WE ARE GOING TO SUCCEED!!!! Along our journey, so far, the internet has been the most resourceful and informative way to promote our music, since we come from the most unlikeliest place (for a black metal band), South Africa has hardly any outlet, yet (that we know of), for what we want to do. Our objective since the beginning, and still is today, was and is, to show people all over the world, especially the people down here (except for the bands already working their asses off!!), that it can be done down here! Now, when we started sending our demo's off, it was on a very low cost budget, and we still can not really afford pro-releases. We only sent out 13 copies of our first demo to only big labels, and that was our only big mistake. It was only until Andrew Parrish got into contact with Morg, that we realized, you gotta start small. This kinda sucks cause we've been doing this for a while, BUT, we unfortunately started recording our material too late in recording studios. Before that, it was all on tape, and we had a stiff and strict rule to never sink into the abode of drum machine bands that there are today, we didn't think that would do our music justice at all. (That's why Morg started playing drums). Anyway, Andrew also made us realize that small quantities count in every way, and we agree!! So he offered to release our music through his label "Morbid Souls Music". This was really fucking excellent!!! As far as we know, it should be out in the first quarter of 2004, and entitled "Not telling yet!". Also, not long after this, another label, "Demonic Death Records" (USA), got into contact with us and offered to release our music on their label aswell, limited to 400 copies, on cassette!! This was, admittedly, very fucking cool, and it all happened very sudden. So...everything is still in the works for that! October 2002, before forgetfulness sets in, was a cool month for us aswell, we finally got a website up and running, Morg learned the basics of html from the internet, and lo, our website was born. We are still going to go dot-com though. Things just started picking up momentum when Athame and Abyssidian joined Nicatas Drumer. We got a big piece in our local news paper, the "Daily Dispatch" on October 1st this year. It was a definite first in the history of black metal in East London. They even published a picture of the band and in the story mentioned that our band name means Satanic Murder. That was fucking funny! We never really expected them to say that! We were expecting quite a bit of hate mail our way, but that we'll savor for ourselves at the moment. Abyssidian, the hungry villain, almost got the shit beaten out of him with what most probably were christian activists of some sort, but, they backed down.... HEY!! At least we know people know about us now! HAH!! That's as far as the history of Nicatas Drumer goes for now, there is a lot more to tell, which we're sure is the case with most bands, but we don't want this to become a fucking publication!! HAIL, HAIL, HAIL AND KILL!!!!!!!
