Mainly inspired by the punk rock of the 90’s, Next Friday starts in September 2003 as a three piece band. After a year of hard work and a new line up (quintet), their melodic hardcore became well appreciated especially on stage where they develop intense yet personal music with sharp guitars and live vocals. They had the great opportunity to play with bands such as Fabulous Disaster, Antillectual, Loisirs, Myra Lee, Hogwash, Nothing New, Funeral Dinner just to name a couple. Coming from Clermont-Ferrand, they released in January 2005 their first demo, 6 punk rock songs, 100% DIY from the artwork from the whole process of assembling and diffusion, with lyrics dealing with diversified subjects such as injustice, racism, truth or economical problem. “Time’s up” was well received by the specialized fanzines/webzines. Next Friday s'est bâti sur les cendres peu fumantes d'un trio pop punk clermontois dont le nom n'intéresse plus personne.
C'est en septembre 2003 que le groupe change de nom, toujours sous forme de trio.
Début janvier 2004, Arno débarque dans l'aventure. Les premiers concerts s'enchaînent pendant le premier semestre, sur toute la région Auvergne (Clermont-Ferrand, Moulins,...), avec des groupes comme Nothing new, Steven charlton's band, Asillhome, Noise..., Maducksplatypus, ...
Août 2004 nouveau tournant : Jay débarque au chant lead. Next friday joue avec Loisirs, Myra lee et Fabulous disaster début septembre puis se concentre sur la préparation d'un ep/démo prévu pour fin 2005.
Quant aux paroles elles peuvent être incompréhensibles certes, mais essayent pour certaines de réagir à des problêmes divers. Se plonger un peu dans la contre culture...
Next friday ne demande qu'à exporter sa musique un peu plus loin que Clermont-Ferrand.Have you performed in front of an audience?Of course yes !! We love play live !!
