The band formed in very early 2004 when guitarist Kevin Doyle and then-drummer-now-bassist Corey Poindexter got together in the remnants of their band that had broken up, TriggerFinger. They shuffled Poindexter to bass from drums in TriggerFinger before the break up, and needed only to find drums. However, they opted to move Poindexter back to drums and add Eric Phillips as their bassist, and Josh Ruberg as their other guitarist. Soon, the reformed Trigger Finger broke up once more.
Doyle remained at guitar, Poindexter switched to bass, and they added drumer Brian Powell and became "Hampster Mafia", a Weezer cover band.
Kevin continued his other band, "Kenetic", at the same time with future guitarist Kevin Wauligman. However, Kenetic broke up, leaving Doyle with only "Hampster Mafia".
Later, Poindexter left the band to drum for another project. The band added guitarist Kevin "Flapjak" Wauligman, and bassist Eric Phillips. They renamed themselves "Kenetic" (the original who's break-up led to Kevin W. joining the band).
After a few months, Poindexter returned after he heard Eric and Brian had left Kenetic. They added Poindexter back to bass, as well as Matt Lysaught on drums. They changed their name once again, choosing "Neverender".
