Distortion, clean melodies, body shaking grooves, heavy rhythm section, stage energy and constant line up changes are some of the recent elements associated with NerveRek and its music. Four and a half years of song writing, competing, performing, winning, losing, jamming, un-jamming, recording and other such activities have brought about a history of events that defines the band in its own way to each listener. Formed in August of 2003, by singer/guitarist Arjun "chiq" Dhanraj, the band has seen a variety of musicians and styles. The high lite of NerveRek's line up changes happened when Ritesh filled in the drums section of the band. Besides shows, competitions and other events, the band is currently working on its debut album. This should be out before May 2008.
Band/artist history
The band was formed in August 2003. The original members were Arjun Dhanraj - guitars/vocals, Wayne Molten - bass and Pradeep Gopalan - drums. We started out as a 'three piece thrash band'. Of course, as time went by, NerveRek has gone through literally 101 line up changes, but all of them have ALWAYS been for the better! Current Line up: Arjun "chiq" Dhanraj - guitars/vocals & composition Ritesh Dharmaraj - drums/backing vocals Mario Rohan - bass Shayne Fernandes - keyboards/backing vocals
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We LOVE playing live, and we do it all the time! Special moments, however would include CRI 2007 (south zone finals @ Manipal) , (national finals @ Delhi), Opening act for the German band 'Scorpions' @ Bangalore,
Your musical influences
Over the years, the influences have been countless, so I'll just spill out a few, (in no particular order). Incubus, Pain of Salvation, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Michael Jackson, Dave Mathews band, Dream Theater, Extreme, Mr Big, Nirvana, Guns n roses, etc...
What equipment do you use?
Arjun - Fender squire, Ibanez Rg 350 with boss analogue pedals Ritesh - anything he gets his hands on. Shayne - Mario -
Anything else?
We love the fans and the critics equally! People who love us for who we are, could be called 'fans', but people with genuine criticism play a huge role in the band's LEARNING experience on the whole! So, Keep the faith, and let the hits keep on coming!
