I think i love synths since i was five years old. I heard Kraftwerk on the TV and i was amazed at the vocoders, the leads, and all that. Besides, i'm from Magallanes, so there were not too much things to do in 1979 but watching TV and listening to the radio. I'm forever hooked to the 80's pop music. That's a drug for me. Some say it is crap, but i can't but compose music that way.
Your musical influences
Well, i like above all, the music that Pet Shop Boys had made during twenty years. You are allowed to think of me as the third Pet Shop Boy. Or the sixth Beatle. Yeah, i'd wish ! Depeche Mode are also a great group. Sadly, their last album (Exciter) failed to excite anything but my brain's sleep center. Besides that, i don't have any other influences. I just PLAGIARIZE Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Groove Armada, Hybrid, and any good electronic band that you might hear. You know, if you hear something good on the radio, you may be sure that I WILL STEAL IT. I miss Information Society. I wish that i could go back in time with all my synths. I'd rock then.
What equipment do you use?
Ah, this is the part that i like. For all those techno-pornographers, victims of the gear lust, and all those people that lock theirselves in their bathrooms with the last copy of the Future Music Magazine: 1) Roland MC-505. The brain of all my setup. 2) Korg X5D: I sold it. Great Sounds, no knobs. 3) Kawai K5000s: I sold it. Great sounds, too many knobs. 4) Korg Microkorg: Kicks ass. It's a violent little instrument. 5) Korg Electribe ER-1. Pure electricity. 6) Ensoniq HALO: a crappy keyboard with great sounds in its ROM. 7) Zoom ST-224 Sampler: It is gathering dust on my desk. There's no way to sell it for something more than the price of a (small) beer can. 8) Novation KS-4. Da Shit. It sounds analog, doesn't matter what analogheads would say. Kicks ass in a more subtle way. 9) Reason (stolen copy): I'm learning to use it. 10) Fruity loops: it came with my soundcard and it is amazing. Not as powerful as reason, but i really like the interface and the integration with every plugin available in the world. 11) Akai S2000: i sold it since i beheld the future and i realized that samplers are crap when you have a 120 Gb hard disk. 12) I need a couple of good monitors.
