In the summer of 2003, four friends got together to let their hair down and have a good time.Those four friends comprising of Akshay (vocals),Salil(drums),Nikhil(Guitars) and Aniket(bass) were later joined by Saurabh(Guitars) and thus Nemesis was formed.Together they built a repertoire of hell raising covers ranging from guitar oriented heavy metal like Maiden and Metallica to newer bands like SOAD.
They started out playing in small clubs like Cyclone but soon focused their attention to playing in competitions and lived up to the literal meaning of their name by proving to be the Nemesis of the competing bands. They won runners up prize at the inaugural edition of the Battle of the bands in pune,2004 and at Crescendo 05.But the jewel in the crown was their victory at the Pepsi Hero Honda Campus Rock Idols where they won the Pune leg and came runners up at the west zone finals beating more experienced bands from Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Hence they were one of the 8 finalists nationwide.They have also been featured regularly in local newspapers and sites like drummingworld .com and have even been featured in the September 2003 edition of the RSJ as an upcoming band to watch out for.
The bands musical influences range from Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest, Megadeth,Iced Earth etc.The band initially started off as a cover band playing note perfect covers like Master of puppets,The trooper,Electric eye,Toxicity etc.and earned acclaim for the phenomenal stage act. but now are concentrating more on composing good strong originals.
‘Breakaway’, the bands first song is featured on "We Are The Scene II", a compilation album of various local bands.
The band has recorded 2 brand new songs, "Unheard" and "Live To Fight" which are availible for free download on this site.
On September 24th,2005 Nemesis took the audience by storm by winning KFC:Kampus Rock!!This was also their first gig with new vocalist Siddharth.
Nemesis wins CRI West Zone 2005!!Also Nikhil wins best guitarist!
The band as of now are in a state of 'creative hibernation'!
