Welcome to the world of Naked Philosophy. It is my world, but you can visit for as long as you'd like. As a matter of fact, I'd encourage it. Come on in, the water's fine...but you might get a bit of sarcasm on your shirt.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Naked Philosophy first picked up a guitar in 1990, and has been in several bands in the meanwhile, all equally unknown: Virtual Reality, Promethium and No Money. No Money actually got as far as recording 3 demos (2 full lengths and an EP) before circumstances drove the band 3000 miles apart. Although No Money still plans on recording in the future, Naked Philosophy strives to be half as cool as No Money with half the members. The songs of Naked Philosophy have been ideas that have been around since the mid-90's, but the band was not formally christened until 2002, when the first jangly guitar chords and fake drums were put to tape in a cold, damp basement.
...And the saga continues. Naked Philosophy is currently putting the finishing touches on a DIY album entitled "WWKD: What Would Kirk Do?" that was intended to be ready for public consumption in March or April. However, due to some unforseen production delays, it might be a few months yet. Want to be the first on your block to own it? Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I'd love to get a band together to perform live, but seeing how it's just me, no live shows at the moment...
Your musical influences
I'd like to come up with new and original sounds, but mostly I end up sounding like Simon and Garfunkel getting run over by an indie rock wall of guitars a la Sunbrain, Five Eight, or Ned's Atomic Dustbin. Then add the occasional alterna-pop strains of R.E.M. or the Smashing Pumpkins, and an Irish drinking song now and again. Confused yet? So am I...
