Nakatheral. This 5 member orchestration issues a new approach to the ominous, spirtually driven breed of melodic black/death metal. Nakatheral defines the term "True" Canadian Black Metal.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
This band has survived fires, floods and fluxuating membership but ONE single tragedy surpasses all.
On Oct.28th 2004 Jason Mercer, our long time friend and brother and the newest addtion to the Nakatheral line-up was killed in tragic car accident. Only three days later he ws scheduled to play his oficial debut performance as the difinitive drummer for Nakatheral.
Nakatheral continues with his spirit feeding our fire.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Until Friday Nov.28 2003, Nakatheral regularily played live at Madam T's, our home club in Stratford Ontaio, Canada. Tragically, home burnt to the ground. We are already researching new venues for our "home" shows to continue the power of the music scene( with bands like thesilent6,disclaimer,tether,Kristen Nevermind,group therapy) and following that we have built over the last three years. Abroad, we have performed in Toronto, London and Kitchener. Nakatheral also dominated the Crystal Palace battle of the bands in the summer of 2002, the proceeds went to fund the building of a skate-park for local youth. All live shows are special. We have loved playing with bands like Toronto's Tallman,the Hollow,thesilent6,Sylis, London's Eschatus and all the other great bands we have performed with.
Your musical influences
Our influences are vast, stemming from all types of music. Our music is often compared to that of Old man's Child, Dimmu Borgir,In Flames and Children of Bodom.
