Myeah
Myeah plays guitar-driven, riff-based metal. Any other elements of our music are reduced to a supporting role.
Band/artist history
Myeah began in 2001 as a two-man joke band of sorts that created short video spoofs of pop/rock songs. The initial lineup was myself on vocals and Nic Lefeve on lead guitar, but as Myeah started to cover metal songs in a more serious manner (mainly early material from Megadeth and Metallica), Erik Unger set down his video camera and took up the vocal duties so I could focus on playing my newly acquired bass guitar. The first true Myeah recordings were goofy, garbled grindcore tinged with blackened humor and poor musicianship (the combined playing experience of myself and Mr. Lefeve was only a little over a year). Under the pressuring of Erik Unger, about fifteen or so copies of Myeah's first demo were sold and distributed around our school (Battle Ground Academy).
Once the band abandoned their silly grindcore shtick and began composing some serious, original material and creating its own sound, Erik Unger left the band to pursue his own differing musical vision, leaving only the two original members.
In 2005, Myeah released its first completed song entitled Grendels Hideous Hymn of Pain.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Due to the mechanical nature of our composition methods and the unavailability of acceptable session musicians, Myeah has not and probably will not play any live shows in the foreseeable future
Your musical influences
As a bassist, my main influences are Steve DiGiorgio and Sean Malone, but I also have a high degree of reverence for the works of guitarists like Chuck Shuldiner and Ron Jarzombek.
Nic Lefeve has yet to be reached for comment on this section.
What equipment do you use?
The drums were sequenced on my computer via the Skale Tracker 0.80 beta. Everything else was recorded on an ancient but serviceable Panasonic RX-FT510 tape deck. The lower frequencies were played on a Squire Precision Bass and emitted from a Fender brand Bassman 60 amplifier. Due to some concerns I had about disturbing other humans inside the audible vicinity, the vocals had to be recorded from the inside of my car in the waning hours of the evening. I have not yet contacted Nic Lefeve for an official equipment listing. All the instruments were mixed on a computer recording program called Audacity and converted into the mp3 format that can be downloaded off this very site.
Anything else?
Myeah is:
Jayson Young - bass guitar, vocals, drum programming
Nic LeFeve - electric guitar
