Mutha/ Mixtape Crap/ song review Rating: 3.75 stars out of 4 Detroit underground rapper Mutha, the « father of trash rap », released another song. It is called « Mixtape Crap » and it is worth your attention. Soft piano sounds and soft vocals intoduce Muthas brand new song. With lots of humor, the red haired emcee talks about haters stating « Who is this? Youd better stop rapping ». Like many of his fellow white emcees from Detroit, Mutha experiences racial stereotypes and it can be a real pain in the neck. Mutha answers with offensiveness and confidence to his haters on a rhythmic and rich musical background. Mutha reminds his listeners that he reps the Murder Mitten. Lyrically, the track is very much enjoyable and it introduces you in the dirty 313. Three One Third, you heard? Mutha has a nice flow delivery. He developed a unique style of his own that you will also find in his Trashed in Detroit EP: http://www.michiganbands.com/reviews-177.html Check out Muthas Mixtape Crap song here: http://www.myspace.com/trashrap Copyright2006 by Isabelle Esling All Rights Reserved Margate Records & Mutha have released the "Trashed in Detroit E.P.". Today you will discover something new in Detroit rap: it is called trash rap. If you want to understand the spirit of trash rap, you gotta understand how an artist who goes through the most difficult life situations manages to use them to his advantage. I've learned from a fellow blogger, Scott, that it's more useful to do our best wherever we are. It's the best way to make doors open (spiritually speaking) and unexpected blessings come to you faster. Once I was complaining about the place where I live and even posted a pic of my horrible building. Scott taught me that the best way to advance was to use my willpower and to work the best I could from where I was, and to forget about complaining. Scott opened my eyes in so many ways. Now I understand that even the dirt, the lack of comfort, the noise, the insecurity, the crazy neighbors, and literally anything viewed as a negative could be used to my advantage. I'm trying to do this as a writer and I think that's what Mutha is also trying to do in his Trashed In Detroit EP. So what makes Mutha's Trashed In Detroit EP CD so interesting? Mutha describes the dirtiness and harshness of his living conditions from an unsigned emcees point of view. While the subject matter is dark and dirty, Mutha uses his talent and the dirt at his disposal to come up with a unique rapping style with an impressive delivery. "Here We Go" introduces the CD. Rhythmic drums and keyboard heartbeats alike will allow you to step into Muthas universe. The speedy words he spits on his mic reflect the struggle of an aspiring emcees fight. Mutha's in the house, ready to take over. Catchy beats, tight rhymes and a solid sense of humor make "Get Trashed", the second track of the album, very enjoyable: 'This is my definition / I got an ambition / can I get your permission / to be a musician? '. You can taste the trash in "The Hitman". The words invade your space and move your head while the beat kicks you. The hitman makes a living off of a dirty business. Test him and he'll meet you in hell. "Drunk All Day And Night" introduces you to a bar where the sound of a piano reminds you of the hidden drama of an alcoholic. Muthas CD is a poignant piece of ghetto reality. "The ugly" follows the fight of an unsigned emcee. The Detroit ghetto is fully represented here in its harsh reality; blunts, weapons, alcoholism, murderers, and great lyricism are all parts of its landscape. Mutha creates an atmosphere of ghetto reality on Trahsed in Detroit with poigniant lyrics and rhythmic beats that's made for hip hop lovers.
