Michael E. Coleman
Biography:
Michael Eugene Coleman began his extensive career as a musician in Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1971. After relocating to South Bend, Indiana he played with a number of Bands whose musical sounds ranged from the classic jazz standards, to the foot stomping sounds of down home funk.
After finishing high school, armed with only his self-taught musical reading ability and style techniques he auditioned and became the Guitarist for the Indiana University Jazz Ensemble and performed for one year as the ensembles guitarist. After a successful year with Indiana University, he co-founded and became the bandleader of Congressional Funk. As the opening act for such greats as The Chilites, Brass Construction, The Dramatics, and New Birth. That experience wet his appetite for a professional career as a musician, songwriter, and producer.
In 1983-84 he met and began a tour with a husband and wife duo called Tangie-n-Tommie from Columbus, Ohio. After the tour he relocated to Houston, Texas and worked with Archie Bell & The Drells. After two years of working the Houston/Dallas entertainment scene, he decided to pursue his education in the entertainment industry and relocate to Atlanta, Georgia. Since moving to Atlanta, Michael had the pleasure of working with such greats as The Platters, The Impressions, and Clarence Carter.
Ive always been a firm believer in respecting your audience. Its your audience, better yet your entire listening public who will make you or break you in this business. So in 1987 I decided it was time to develop a show band with the versatility of The Commodores and Hall & Oats, and the strength and power of George Clinton & The P-Funk All Stars. This musical concept has been burning inside of me for many years. Ive always worked with bands that allowed me the freedom to express my ideas. Thats when I decided it was time to develop Musicole w/Michael C. Acknowledging his goals and realizing what needed to be done, and what he had to offer this industry. Musicole w/Michael C. was introduced to the world.
Through out the 90s Michael pursued and achieved many goals. During a two-year contract on the Scotia Prince Cruise lines, Michael worked as the staff Guitarist and bandleader. Exploring a very different musical genre. The bands floorshow was comprised of television commercials and excerpts. Michael had an opportunity to explore the world as an actor. As a vocalist Michael was pushed to the limit with a great performance of The Phantom of the Opera, Grease, and a Tribute to Motown. Taking on the world of Broadway, it was another chapter of Michaels life that was a great success.
Today Michaels goals still remain high. He has just completed production on his second Cd project. The title of the new Cd is MCII. Its time to enjoy the life that my peers have endured of the past 30 years. I want to enjoy the arenas, stadiums, and my number one goal in life, to play New York cities world famous Madison Square Garden.
