The Winter Revolution was formed in Spring 2005 when Nick, Kimmy and Hugh combined what little guitar knowledge and experience they had in an attempt to create fresh sounding alternative rock music. Yatu was on the fringes of the band for nearly a year, and became the bassist in 2006. The newly formed group had difficult finding a realistic drummer. The band ultimately settled on the immensely talented Charlie Furber as the primary drummer but with drum prodigy Kobi, the 8-year old brother of guitarist Kimmy as a practice drummer. Having considered various names, and, rejecting both Chord Nation and The Dyslexic Seven, the band settled on The Winter Revolution for no discernable reason. Over the course of a year, the band have written over 30 pieces of music combining their various influences. While Yatu masters the bass, and Charlie has taken the role of drummer; the guitar trio are yet to take up defined roles, switching roles and parts, song by song. TWR has experimented with many other instruments over the course of the year as well as making use of an E-bow and a Korg Kaoss Pad, all adding to their eclectic sound. ZING!
