Story behind the song
The initial seed of this song came from the interpretation of Zechariah 9:10 that I was planning to give in a Bible Study on 3/27/2026, and that is the source of the lyrics. Then I felt those words felt like they would compliment verse 2 of the song I was planning to sing in ESL class that same week (A Prototypical Day). Then I thought, “These words need to be heard by many people, so I decided to make them into a song. That happened in the early morning of 3/24/2026.
Lyrics
The rulers of this world often gain power by force; but the kingdom of Christ gains power by drawing people in with the promise of eternal peace. The kingdoms of this world can force- fully control people’s lives, but only until their death. The kingdom of Christ brings peace in this life, but also eternal peace after this life in Heaven. James 4 asks and answers the question about where wars come from on this earth. They come from covetousness, lust, and selfishness. Christ’s contrasting message of peace teaches contentment with the blessings He gives us, humility, meekness, and putting others ahead of ourselves.
