Mellow, revolutionary, radical, very far from the center of public opinion solo artist
Reverend Black Dog is an impromptu singer-songwriter guitarist performing his own songs live! "After hearing friends jam on acoustic guitars in a Blue Mound, Texas backyard circa 1981 I was hooked." Reverend Black Dog is a revolutionary, radical, very far from the center of public opinion solo artist with ideas that no one seems to be going for! The term 'black dog' use to be a way of referring to feelings of depression, sadness, melancholy; despondency; the blues, way back in the day; possibly in reference to the three-headed demon dog that patrols the house of Hades from Greek mythology: "No company is more hateful than your own, the black dog follows you, and hangs close with hungry fangs!" (Horace). The name "Reverend Black Dog" was also influenced by the artist name "Black Ace" and songs "Black Snake Moan" and "Black Dog Blues" by Blind Blake, and of course, "Black Dog" by Led Zeppelin; also, the Chinese astrological signs "Snake" and "Dog." The title, "Reverend" was borrowed with all due respect, from the title (of respect) often prefixed to the name of a member of the Christian clergy to which Reverend Black Dog is not part of. Story behind the song
I like this song because I wasn't drinking, my latest trend is not drinking! (sic) After about thirty-seven years of experimenting. It all began back in 1978, while skipping school, at a friend's house, raiding his parents downstairs bar while everyone was gone, then smoking some old school pot with normal THC and CBD levels! Young, buzzed, and invincible. GMO corn! Yeah, living here in the Chicago area we have terrible humidity in the summer, come to find out it's from the "corn sweat," yeah, that's what it's called, from all the corn all around the Midwest! And it's mostly GMO or GM. GM crops started in the early 1990s and now 90 percent of the corn is GM! A horrific disregard for nature, 'got to move away. "Move Away," Reverend Black Dog (acoustic guitar, vocals). Recorded live, Oct. 9th or 10th, 2025 with a Sansa Clip, extra low-fidelity (XLFI) at 24 kHz, mono. Edit: 5-pure, bio: 12/26. Lyrics
Ain't nothing you can do .. ain't nothing you can say, bad times here to stay, yeah, that's why I want to move away. Ain't nothing I did wrong, just a stupid song, just want to move away. (Guitar) Sunny days, ain't no haze, that's the way it was meant to be, no GMO corn coming on me, just got to move away, I know gonna move away. (C) 2025 Reverend Black Dog. All Rights Reserved.
