Desdemona Motel 2014 Robert George BMI
She said she was late for yoga
And then she kissed me goodbye
And I still remember thinkin’
Her kiss was a little dry
Then I tailed her red Toyota
Feelin’ like an empty shell
And I saw my woman park,
round the back side in the dark
At the Desdemona Motel
Pint of rotgut on my front seat
Pawn shop pistol in my boot
And the one remaining question
Was how many would I shoot
Was it gonna be two gravestones
And a tiny jailhouse cell
Two chalk outlines on the floor,
Yellow tape across a door
At the Desdemona Motel
But that night I was lucky that my heart could hear
What the hands of time would only tell
And that’s that ev’ry trace of trust had disappeared
Long before the Desdemona Motel
Poured my whiskey on the pavement
And I put my truck in drive
Then I headed down the highway
To the morning of my life
And I heard it through the grapevine
Her affair soon went to hell
How was love supposed to bloom,
When its seed was in a room
Of the Desdemona Motel
But that night I was lucky that my heart could hear
What the hands of time would only tell
And that’s that ev’ry trace of us had disappeared
Long before the Desdemona Motel
