A bit experimental with some backwards guitar
ice winter backwards guitar
Artist picture
Singer-songwriter, arranger and producer: acoustic contemporary folk but ranging into rock/blues/country/jazz/humour...all very eclectic, I'm afraid!
Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. My taste becomes increasingly eclectic ranging from finger-picked folk through country to soft rock mixed in with a few more alternative and eccentric numbers, including the odd novelty foxtrot...

Story behind the song
Written whilst camping on the Isle of Wight in January It was a poem rather than a song really but I think the backwards guitars really go with the lyric.
Lyrics
Lying softly feather down Nestled in the wind-blown leaves Tread the earth with solid sound Crisply crackling frosty weaves Soulless sun with image pale Set in clear translucent sky Fear the cold if it should fail Fear the wind if it should stir Flowing freely river light Dappled serpent dancing dream Liquid silver hidden might, Nothing simple as it seems Cast adrift a moss-patch falls Disappears with swirling pride Fear the sound the river calls, Fear the river in your mind
