Artist picture
Singer-songwriter, arranger and producer: acoustic contemporary folk but ranging into rock/blues/country/jazz/humour...all very eclectic, I'm afraid!
Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. My taste becomes increasingly eclectic ranging from finger-picked folk through country to soft rock mixed in with a few more alternative and eccentric numbers, including the odd novelty foxtrot...

Story behind the song
Another early ballad of unrequited love these seem to recur every so often, though I can’t think why A fairly straightforward arrangement on this.
Lyrics
Here she comes see her move like the sun Here she comes but does she beckon me on oh no She goes to another man that she claims He speaks her name but I can’t hear Watch them dance closer to her I stroll Take a chance but I can’t rock’n’roll oh no The way that she moves does things to my mind I’d like her all the time to be near Funny light makes the fluff on me suit Shine out bright but it don’t look so cute oh no As her in her halo of purity Wish I could be by her side Getting late Englebert’s on again Find a date but it won’t be the same oh no Looking through a forest of backcombed hair I can still see her there and I smile Love you girl but I don’t know your name Love you girl but you don’t feel the same oh no But that don’t stop the feeling building up inside But I’ll just have to hide it for a while
