folk ballad
Artist picture

My taste becomes increasingly eclectic ranging from finger-picked folk through country to soft rock mixed in with a few more alternative and eccentric numbers, including the odd novelty foxtrot...

Story behind the song
I attended a Cambridge Union debate with the motion "God is Dead" with the Archbishop of Canterbury. I got in late and had to sit at his feet - not the most comfortable position for an atheist! (Especially as it was televised...) Not sure if the motion passed or not - but probably yes as I wrote this song afterwards!
Lyrics
17 A Song for God capot 2 s sung in D CGFCGFCC CGFCGFCC The time has come at last to leave the world behind See it fall away in blue and brown Too long for ages past I’ve lived as though I’m blind Now I see the sun, the golden crown GGCCFCG Gmj7G7 FCCGFGCsus4C The stain glass windows of the past can’t hold me back I’ve had enough of all their stony lies I see no reason to search for what I lack If no one cares if I die Although I hate to be a failure it is true I’ve tried my very hardest to succeed I made you all you see and even all oof you I wrote you oh so many books to read So now I’m off to see the friends that I once knew Back beyond the stars from whence I cam Settle down and have a family or maybe one or two Creation’s such a funny game
