This is my second cover of a song by Wild Swans; As you may know, I'm a big fan of, 'Brit-Pop', music of the 1980s. Lots of very inventive new bands came onto the scene.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
As some of you may already know, I'm a big fan of the so called, 'Brit-Pop', music scene in the UK at the start of the 1980s' and onwards. After the 'utter shambles', (but thankfully very short lived), noise, chaos and hype that was the Punk explosion, a lot of very good and musically inventive bands came onto the scene. ...The Teardrop Explodes, Echo & The Bunny-men, Aztec Camera, The Smiths XTC, etc. etc.. Even the bands that I was a member of, Dolce Vita and later, Silent Network. Wild Swans (from Liverpool) were one of these bands that I liked. I've enjoyed attempting to 'interpret', rather than slavishly 'cover', this song of theirs. So, yes, as usual, I've given it my own 'Major Snagg twist. Guitars weaving in and out a-plenty. I used my Yamaha Pacifica 612V for most of the solos and 'twiddly bits', Hope that you enjoy it. Play it LOUD.
Lyrics
Bringing Home The Ashes by The Wild Swans 1988 Guitar intro: Goodbye, Flower of England, the pain never fades away after all this time. World War and revolution, the heart in the heart of England will never die Bringing home the ashes, is more than I can bear Goodbye, King of Sorrow, the curse of a thousand years beneath the glove. Worn down and hardly breathing, the hearts in the heart of England, will never die Bringing home the ashes, is more than I can bear When Winter lightning flashes, you'll find me lonely there. Guitar solo: Bringing home the ashes, is more than I can bear When Winter lightning flashes, you'll find me lonely there. instrumental verse: instrumental section to fade-out:

well done mate, great cover and a really cool song (both the og and your cover!) love what you've done with this David, it rocks but it's also got that 'suave 80s' OMD, Modern English (melt with you) vibe/feel which is one of your trademarks! Agree re; Punk and it's quick demise but yep, totally necessary to have happen so as to then give way to the brilliance of what was to come next, - Human League, New Order, Japan, Numan, Dave Stewart, Depeche, Vince Clarke et al.
