Lyrics
Verse 1
Met him down by the feed store sign,
Dust on his boots, deal on his mind,
He eyed my mare like a poker hand,
Said, “That horse could work me half my land.
Verse 2
I said she’s steady, don’t spook or scare,
Knows every trail like a county map there,
He just laughed, kicked the gravel aside,
Pointed at the ATV with a chrome-plated pride.

Verse 3
We shook on it where the creek runs dry,
Neighbors watched with a squint in their eye,
I rode home loud on four-wheel sound,
Left hoofprints missin’ from the ground.
Chorus
I traded hooves for horsepower,
Old trust for a faster hour,
No hay to haul, no reins to hold,
Just gas and gears and stories told.
But some things pull more than steel and wire,
I traded a heart for an engine fire.
Bridge
That machine runs quick but it don’t know me,
Don’t feel the rain or the way trails breathe,
A horse’ll wait when your spirit’s slow,
A motor just wants you to twist and go.
Outro
Now when the night gets quiet and still,
I swear I hear her on the hill,
Some trades are fair, some cut deep,
You don’t know the cost till you try to sleep.
