Jamey Darnold is a singer/songwriter/guitarist/ solo act originally from the banks of the Mississippi river town of Burlington, Ia. He has released to his credit 13 full length albums that seamlessly meld country, blues, and folk styles spanning from 2004's "Burlington Bound.. a railroad town" to 2023's "The Running River". He is influenced by up and coming Americana artist such as "Jason Isbell" to the folk rock classics of "The Eagles", and Neil Young. His strongest assets are in the singing and songwriting styles portrayed. Life's lessons endured by what makes the American dream real. Story behind the song
In collaboration with the very talented soundclick artist Michael Bennett who provided the music and instrumentation. Michael, thanks for allowing anyone to use this track as they wish. You are truly a inspiration to many! I tried my best to add a fictional but meaningful lyric for the displacement of individuals who were compromised.
Lyrics
My name is Diablo Cruz I'll share this news It's Time to leave, I'm in the need No freedom no democracy But this time I choose To break all the rules Got to make this better I've been under this weather I'm dragging a stone I'm dragging a stone I'm deep in a hole I lost my soul Won't someone.....take me home Your not letting me in This unholy sin I won't get very near I won't ever come in I'm dragging a stone I'm dragging a stone I'm so all alone I don't belong Someone carry me.... back home This weight is no better been tied and tethered Your giving me this gate I better not be late But I'm dragging a stone I'm dragging a stone I'm waving you on goodbye Never liked being that high And now I no why I don't mean to brag Stones are meant to drag And I've been dragging too
