A cover of a great song by Marillion. This is from their album, Holidays In Eden (1991). Their original vocalist, Fish (Derek Dick) had already left the band by this stage and this album features vocals by Steve Hogarth, the band's 'new', vocalist.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
I've always liked this song but had never attempted to even play along to it until a week ago when I was having a private 'Marillion-Fest'. So I thought to myself, "perhaps I can do this now ... I'm a much better guitar player than I was when it was released in 1991" This is one of the 'singles', from this Marillion album. The grainy sepia tinged MTV video for it shows lots of moody shots of vocalist Steve Hogarth looking 'love-sick' :) Ah well, MTV was the 'go to' thing if you'd a single to promote back then. The song is credited to all the band members of Marillion at the point in time ... S. Hogarth / Mark Kelly / Pete Trewavas / Ian Mosley / Steven Rothery. I managed to nail most of it but some of the high notes of the vocals in the choruses were just a little bit out of my range ... but hey, this is only a fun-filled hobby at the end of the day and... well, it is what it is. Sing along to the choruses if you can reach those high notes. :) For those of you who like to know, I used my Yamaha Revstar RE 420 for all the guitar parts and my Rickenbacker 4003 for ...well, the bass parts. All through a Line 6 Pod Go unit into a Zoom R-24 recorder, mixed and mastered in Adobe Adition (1.5). yes, still on Windows 10.
Lyrics
No One Can (Marillion) 1991 You landed in my life, like a new and brighter light, that made all my past seem in the shadow. I always used to believe, that beauty was skin deep but I need a new word to describe you. And the time that it took, to take down the wall, was the time that it took, for me to fall, hopelessly weak. No one can take you away from me now. Don't worry if they take me away. No one can take you away from me now, no matter how long we have to wait. The days before you came, were really all the same, a greyness I used to call freedom. Endless nights out with the boys, the boasting and the noise, to think that I ever believed them. No one can take you away from me now. Don't worry if they take me away. No one can take me away from me now. no matter how long we have to wait ... no matter ... flashy guitar solo, over these chords ... ( C / Em / G / F // C / Em / G / F ) I don't care what they think, you're all I believe in. I carry you here, and there's something of you, in everything that I love. No one can take you away from me now. Don't worry if they take me away. No one can take you away from me now. Don't matter how long we have to wait. no matter. No one can take you away from me now, don't worry if they take me away. fade-out ...

great cover David, really well done - mix is brilliant as are the vocals and musicianship - man, what a good song (hadn't heard this before) You've really made this your own mate, it's a ten!
