Robert Baitinger, a songwriter from Germany
For songwriters who dont sing or perform it is extremely hard to make ones mark in the music business because they dont have a platform to present and promote their work. This is more or less the situation that I, Robert Baitinger, a songwriter from Germany, have been confronted with since I started writing songs in 1978. My idea is to complement my songwriting capabilities with the "helping hands" of excellent artists, musicians and innovative producers. In the age of the internet it has become easier to communicate and collaborate with musicians and producers all over the world. I am utilizing the internet and pursuing the idea of a conceptual studio band with a frequently changing lineup of artists. I call this project the "Rob B. Project" since I supply the melodies and/or lyrics of a song and other musicians/producers/songwriters contribute their talents and skills to make it come to life.

Story behind the song
Hier ist „Thank You Mama“. Ich stelle sie mir gern im Himmel vor, wie sie es mit einem Lächeln im Gesicht hört. Ich bin mir sogar ganz sicher, dass sie genau das tut. Mama - dieses Lied ist für dich. Danke für alles. Ruhe in Frieden. At the age of 92, my mom Lore quietly passed away last night. She was a very, very special person - my guiding light whenever I wasn’t sure which road to take. She was always there, always ready to listen, whether I needed help or simply advice. She taught me so many things that I now pass on to my kids. She was incredibly creative: she wrote songs and books, and she painted beautiful artwork. Her laughter, her spirit, and her imagination made the world around her brighter. We will miss her dearly. To honor her, I wrote a song. She loved to laugh, and she surely would have wanted something joyful rather than heavy or sad. She spent many years as a choir leader, so I gave it a gospel feel. Here is “Thank You Mama". I like to imagine her somewhere above, listening to this song with a smile on her face. In fact, I’m absolutely sure that’s exactly what she’s doing. Mom - this one is for you. Thank you for everything. Rest in peace.
Lyrics
Thank You Mama [Intro] Oh-oh-oh, ooh Oh-oh-oh, ooh [Verse] You were the soft light on a long road home A steady voice when I felt alone You walked beside me through every storm Your love the place where my heart felt warm [Pre-chorus] If heaven’s listening when I call Let it know you gave me it all [Chorus] Thank you, Mama, for the love you gave For the seeds you planted that still light my way Thank you, Mama, for the light you shined For the open heart you wrapped around mine Thank you, Mama, you set me free You’re the reason I’m who I’m meant to be Thank you, Mama [Verse] You taught me strength in a quiet way That love speaks loud when it’s lived each day Your gentle wisdom, your steady grace I carry both in my heart’s safe place [Pre-chorus] If heaven’s listening when I call Let it know you gave me it all [Chorus] Thank you, Mama, for the love you gave For the seeds you planted that still light my way Thank you, Mama, for the light you shined For the open heart you wrapped around mine Thank you, Mama, you set me free You’re the reason I’m who I’m meant to be Thank you, Mama [Bridge] And I’ll hold your stories close Like a lantern in my soul No matter where you go from here Your song will echo crystal clear [Interlude] Oh-oh-oh, ooh Oh-oh-oh, ooh Oh-oh-oh, ooh Oh-oh-oh, ooh [Big Chorus / Finale] Thank you, Mama, for the love you gave For the seeds you planted that still light my way Thank you, Mama, for the light you shined For the open heart you wrapped around mine Thank you, Mama, you set me free You’re the reason I’m who I’m meant to be Thank you, Mama [Outro] Thank you, Mama Oh-oh-oh, ooh Oh-oh-oh, ooh Oh-oh-oh, ooh Oh-oh-oh, ooh
