Story behind the song
This song was composed on 11/24/2025. It is the first Old Testament reading in the one-year lectionary that is being used by some of our local Lutheran churches. I had already composed music for Jeremiah 23:1-6, so I just adapted the music from that song and added two more verses.

5 “The days are coming, declares the LORD, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteous Savior. 7"Therefore, behold, the days are coming," says the Lord, "that they shall no longer say, 'As the Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ 8but, 'As the Lord lives who brought up and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the north country and from all the countries where I had driven them.' And they shall dwell in their own land."
