Artist picture
20 years deep in the craft - raw bars, real stories, and soul-driven hip-hop straight from the hills of West Virginia
I’m an underground rapper from Morgantown, WV, and I’ve been rapping, writing, and producing albums for over 20 years. My name’s a throwback to hip-hop’s roots when "def" meant excellent and an MC was more than just a rapper; he was a storyteller and a presence. My sound draws inspiration from East Coast artists like Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, and Lupe Fiasco. At the end of the day, I’m just here to make meaningful music that cuts through the noise and tells my story.

Lyrics
[Intro] Back walking this road again, but it's a little different this time I stuck to it and I did it. Nobody will bring me down [Chorus] I walk that road, I know that I'll make it Place called home, going back to a Brave kid Born on a line, my struggle to greatness Route 7 mine, forever I claim this I walk that road, I know that I'll make it Place called home, going back to a Brave kid Born on a line, my struggle to greatness Route 7 mine, forever I claim this [Verse 1] It's all 'bout me, the pain I've seen The pressure that I felt when I turned 19 All on me, eyes on me Words scribbled down on a notebook sheet And they all 'bout me, now watch me shine Still the same Def that you met in '05 The Disstape sound stay fresh in Def's mic So if you wanna hate, then I guess I spit rhymes Back to that town on the PA line Back to the roads that I walked, route signs Back to the dust kicked up from a train and the coal mines The black lung that my granddaddy died from I'm not mad, I'm proud of where I came from It's just too bad you ain't say Def won I'm def done, this game is just def dumb You don't talk about nothing, you rep nothing [Chorus] [Verse 2] I pull my hat down right in front of my face And I don't want none of ya'll knowing my name I'd rather turn around just to leave in God's grace Than rep a rap game that has grown to be fake So I thought, why wait? That's why I never sing Now I'm moving on to a bigger, better thing I'll always be Def, but I'll never need a sling I'll never need to prove myself to you again Though admittedly, some of you will talk shit And that's just fine, cause it's so childish Now that I'm full-grown, I can say now that I'm past it Though I'm still jotting notes on a napkin A friend once said, "Def you is dope, kid 'Fore you let go, just think of why you wrote this." So I did, all I saw was hopeless Now I'm hopeful, let it go to just live [Chorus] [Outro] I'm finally home
