this song just came about like this in the studio.. it originally was slow and bumbling...when we got to the studio i said "why don't we try to jazz it up a little"? and this is what came out...jims drum work is exceptional and tom doing the horns on a yamaha dx7 came out sweet...

my baby's tough
took a walk on down the street
'cause my baby walked out on me
she left me standin' with my clothes in my hand
now i'm as lonely as i can be
can't understand the reasons why
you know things just aren't the same
i try to figure the whole thing out
but who the hell am i to blame
My baby's tough
she doesn't give me enough, o no
my baby's tough
ah, she's so tough
We use to have such a damn good time
we use to do each and everything
but now it seems I'm standing in a void
looks like I just got a sting
but I expect her back someday
'cause she knows how a good man feels
but if she doesn't remember that
well she can keep on movin' her heels
and I said
my baby's tough
she doesn't give me enough
my baby's tough
ah, she's so tough
=guitar=
=repeat chorus=
came back in off the streets
and guess who was standin' there
the suitcases were in her hands
and the sun was shining off her hair
i said baby what it is with you
you know it ain't much to me
guess I was wrong about how I felt
so take a hike and just leave me be
my baby's tough
she doesn't give me enough
my baby's tough
ah, she's so tough
yes she is...
My baby's tough
she doesn't give me enough
my baby's tough
ah, she's so tough
