This song is for those disheartened by all the greed, selfishness, corruption, conflict and war. And it recognizes that while we desperately need to reform our governments and religions, the reform must begin with ourselves.

Original songs about religious tolerance and freedom, liberation, independence, peace, and justice -- Jeffersonian in nature.
More recent recordings of these songs, with better arrangements and with more instrumentation, can be heard at http://www.soundclick.com/Jeffers. (Click ) The songs here were his first recording attempts and are just first takes recorded in early 2009 when the now 73 year old artist's health was steadily declining. He felt he was dying, so he finally picked up his guitar again after 26 years of not playing or singing, and recorded as many songs as he could while he could still sing and play just enough to do it. Since then with a new diagnosis and medicines his health improved a bit and he can breathe a bit better, so he has been working, whenever he was able, to improve the recordings and the arrangements, and record them on a better, 8 track digital portable studio recorder. It was kind of touch and go, but when he had relatively good days he did what he could and he finally produced a better 12 song album that he is a little more satisfied with. But, even as they are the songs here also deliver an important and crucial message --- because the lyrics of the songs are even more relevant now than when they were written more than 30 years ago. Story behind the song
As you do unto others and unto the least of our brethren, you do unto me, unto the Lord, and unto your very Self.
Lyrics
WE CAN CHANGE OUR WORLD Take a good look where you're going, my friend. If you think you are alone, well then think again. There's a light brightly shining in the road ahead. We can change our world, you're not better off dead. We come in many colors, we come short and tall. Some worry, some pray, and some have a ball. But inside us there's a place to recall, We're the leaves from one tree, each one and all. As they do unto our brethren, so they do unto me. We are not each on separate, you see. There is one body, and it's known as humankind. And we are one in Spirit, all the time. So if you find yourself thinking that you are alone. If you keep to yourself and you are unknown. You can be who you were meant to be. Just listen to your soul, and turn the right key. But we must give love, before love comes back. And we cannot give to others what we lack. So take some time to find your inner self, Then you won't keep your soul waiting on a shelf. As you do unto our brethren, so you do unto me. We are not each on separate, you see. There is one body, and it's known as human-kind. And we are one in the Spirit, all the time. Copyright © 2009 - 2010 Try Try Again Project (TTAP)
