Original songs about religious tolerance and freedom, liberation, independence, peace, and justice -- Jeffersonian in nature.
More recent recordings of these songs, with better arrangements and with more instrumentation, can be heard at http://www.soundclick.com/Jeffers. (Click ) The songs here were his first recording attempts and are just first takes recorded in early 2009 when the now 73 year old artist's health was steadily declining. He felt he was dying, so he finally picked up his guitar again after 26 years of not playing or singing, and recorded as many songs as he could while he could still sing and play just enough to do it. Since then with a new diagnosis and medicines his health improved a bit and he can breathe a bit better, so he has been working, whenever he was able, to improve the recordings and the arrangements, and record them on a better, 8 track digital portable studio recorder. It was kind of touch and go, but when he had relatively good days he did what he could and he finally produced a better 12 song album that he is a little more satisfied with. But, even as they are the songs here also deliver an important and crucial message --- because the lyrics of the songs are even more relevant now than when they were written more than 30 years ago. Story behind the song
Originally written in 1982 but not recorded until 2009.
Lyrics
THE DREAM WILL COME TRUE The feeling in my heart, it shows me the way, To be free to do all I can do. So I'll follow the way of my heart today, And know that the dream will come true. I can make one of my two minds. Cast out doubt and dwell on faith. Leave that critic and that accuser behind. Follow the way of a child at play. So I don't stay in a self-made prison. I take courage and dare to make a change (if only in my mind). We can all find our own place in the sun, Even if it's not home, home on the range. Sometimes I find my way by no choice of my own. Some things turn out right that I once thought wrong. And the bonds of desire for approval were blown, By the truth that I found in this song. My accusers have said I have failed them. They have said I have feet of clay. But I could not live my life to please only them. I have my own dues to pay. No I don't stay in a self-made prison. I take courage and dare to make a change (if only in my mind). We can all find our own place in the sun, Even if it's not home, home on the range. So don't stay in a self-made prison. Take courage and dare to make a change (if only in your mind). We can all find our own place in the sun, Even if it's not home, home on the range. Copyright © 2009 - 2010 Try Try Again Project (TTAP)
