"Goodbye Girl" is a 80's style pop/rock song that I wrote in the 80's! It is on my new album "The Source". It has a massive jam at the end. My heart was so broken!

Story behind the song
I had a girl I was dating in high school. I went into the Navy after high school and, when I came home on leave for the first time, she had a new boyfriend. My heart was so broken. When I got back to my ship, I wrote "Goodbye Girl", but I never played it for her. Years went by and I always wondered what happened to her and if she ever knew how much I loved her back then. Last year I found her online, and I let her hear my music. Most of the music that I've recorded has been instrumental jazz/fusion music. She told me that she liked my music but wasn't a big fan of jazz and she asked me is I ever sing. That night I recorded "Goodbye Girl" and sang for the first time on any recordings that I've made. I'm glad that I found her again and that she asked me to sing! I ended up singing on half of my last album and I plan to sing even more on the next one.
Lyrics
Goodbye girl It’s been a long time Since I’ve been around I hate to say it But I’m leavin’ town Goodbye girl I hear that train a rollin’ Coming down the tracks And soon I’ll be goin’ Never coming back Goodbye girl All of my life I’ve searched for you Now it’s too late I have to say to you Goodbye girl Now the train’s a leavin’ And my fate is bound Don’t know where I’m goin’ But I’m leaving town I love you You know it’s true I just wish I could come home to you And take you in my arms Where you belong Look into your eyes Where my love is found I need you To tell me to Stop running And come home to you And run into your arms Where I belong Taste your lips again So our love is bound Goodbye girl Written by James Murrell
