The song is largely built around overlaid synthesisers with a soft feel. The song is all about freedom.

My band is "me" with more than a little help from my lyricist, Tony Shears, on the songwriting front. Our songs might not be typical of today's market but neither are they antiquated, hence the Adult Contemporary title. This particular album "Remnants Of A Cavernous Boot" is a reference to our seventies band "Cavernous Boot" which consisted of Tony and myself along with the world's best guitarist Dave Draper and our seriously deranged drummer Steve Allen who tried vainly to keep us in line with his beat. We mainly played the North London pubs and clubs at the time and had as much work as we wanted, so we couldn't have been that bad. Most tracks on this album are new songs that we wrote last year, some are melody written for lyric, some are lyric put to a melody and a couple are re-writes of our original songs being performed 40 years ago. It's a very mixed bag which I hope you'll find as enjoyable to listen to as it was to record.

Story behind the song
This song started life as an autobiographical poem following an early retirement on grounds of poor health. It deals with the achievement of freedom from the restraints, responsibilities and stresses of a modern, conventional lifestyle.
Lyrics
An innocent beginning of around a thousand days Before you join the system and its all engulfing ways Do the schools and do the test, stick to rules to be the best But freedom is a victim in this maze Some things still to know now but the choice I have is free I say where I go now and which people that I see And finally at last, I just can be Continue on the journey, taking up what you must do The working and the travelling, relationships anew Work and play with parties wild, you name the day and raise a child So often all for others not for you Existing ever faster while accumulating cares You're lucky with the warning on the court or on the stairs Find the sense to get release, not so tense you’ll find your peace Experience with freedom often pairs
