Story behind the song
Bubba B, most people have never heard the word "stoop", what is it and what were you doing sitting on it? "The stoop is that pre-entrance area on the front of your house. Some people have them on their townhouses, some on their full sized homes and some even have them in their apartment buildings, but either way it is the place where on a warm summer day you will find people all over just hanging out on and watching the neighborhood activities". Activities? like what? "Everything and Anything. From the father down the block who drinks too much and beats his wife and kids in the front yard to the drug dealers on the corner hustling that money. Think Friday the movie anywhere and everywhere across the globe. I took it one step farther and likened it to me sitting on a dock and watching the "ships roll in and then watch them roll out", kind of like all the different families and stories going on in every house on the block. This is a very complex song because it deals with the subjects at hand in almost every corner of this world in 1st, 2nd and 3rd person. It is also a very personal song and tells of the struggles I personaly faced growing up in a single parent household and the challenge to wake up in the morning, be out surviving and hustling all day, then making it home safely at night. Or vice versa. And anyone who listens to it will find something in it to gravitate or relate too. I just hope that people will listen and understand the message that is in the song, that we all CAN DO something about the situations where we live, and that just because "daddy or mommy wasn't there" doesn't mean you can't be good and do good. Fact is though that most of us CHOOSE to do bad stuff or nothing and let it go on and get worse.." Very wise and very observant Bubba B. "That is definately Peace. The girl who sings on the tracks name is Krista and she is a professional, classically trained Opera singer who has won more contests and awards than even me..ha ha. But seriously, this was her first attempt and completion of an even remotely R&B track, and I am so glad that she (kind of) came out of her shell for this track. Funny thing is she has been writing R&B tracks for awhile and never thought that her stuff was "good enough", so I quickly changed that thought and now we are working on her debut/demo". AAAHHHH... Bubba B the MC, ever the inspirationalist. "Nope. Motivator".
Lyrics
"Sitting on the stoop in the Hood, it's all good. Watching the thugs do the things they should NOT do, in front the kids that are easily influenced, especially when you ain't ready to deal with the consequence. Of having that little kid grow up, next thing you know he standing on the corner where you stand throwing guns up in the air, blasting like he just don't care..." "What's really going on down here on the streets most don't know, all I know is that we black folk 2000 miles or more from home, lost in a daze, hoping and scrounging for better ways to make our ends, but the means are forgotten. And just like the Big Apple other cities are rotten as well..."
