Story behind the song
Tribute to John Lennon
Lyrics
Chorus Brother John, Not much has changed down here since you've been gone. Could be a while before we live as one. Keep dreaming on. Imagine everybody giving peace a chance, Yet, politicians do their deadly dance. World-wide annihilation--at a glance. Brother John, keep dreaming on. Verse I Those in power, they can't hear the words you speak. They still think a dreamer's just another freak. Seems to me, whenever truth gets in their way, They manufacture lies, prolong their stay. Will we find an answer soon? About how long? Best thing we can do is keep on dreaming on. Lift Yes there is a way. We won't quit until the day we find it. We would love to see everybody, everywhere, get behind it. Chorus Bridge Even Instant Karma takes a long time to unfold. All the lies and promises are really getting old. Verse II Just how precious are the riches they control? Why so critical to keep us in the cold? Are we not entitled to a decent share, When it was our labor that had put them there? Give power to the people to build a nicer place Where everyone's respected in the whole human race. Lift Chorus: Brother John, (variation) We've heard you loud and clear since you've been gone, And, someday, all the world will live as one, If we keep dreaming on. Imagine, starting over every single day, No greed or hunger getting in our way, While you keep shining on, and watching as we play. Brother John, keep dreaming on. Brother John, we all shine on.
