A one-man-band with all-original material, writing, composing and performing since 2005.
My name is Evan Schafer. I am an independent (or "indie") musician with a strong grounding in traditional composition, but I like to think my material always has a unique and individual flair. I guarantee not being bored out of your gourd when turning on one of the records. I produce, mix, and engineer everything myself, and have done so since late 2005.

Story behind the song
Evan Schafer - drums, synthesizer, bass guitar, organ, vocals There have been very few songs that I remember the entire process from beginning to end, what I was thinking, what changes I made in editing and mixing, etc. But "Lonesome" is definitely close to, if not at, the top of that list. I had been messing around with the chords for this song for a very long time, which is part of my allover remembrance of how it evolved. Since Dive was all about experimentation with different sounds, I mixed up the recording process by using analog equipment for "Lonesome" since I wanted to obtain a certain *vintage* quality. This is clearly heard in the final product, between the natural distortion on my vocals, the screaming Hammond B3 organ, and my synthesizers all being run through an ancient mixing board through to a four-track reel-to-reel system. The tracks were then immediately transferred to and synced up like the original tapes with a state of the art digital audio system. Allover, it was a very fun track to do, and hopefully I will never forget one single detail!
Lyrics
A bedrock of mistakes Can't forget all the times The screen in front of me Kept on telling me lies Excuse me, moon Have you got something to say? This is the last song And it's the end of the line for you Who knew you had the power? To win me over And break me down And tear me in The lonesome moonlight Shines through the windowpane There's only one solitary tear I see In your eye But where is the meaning?
