A one-man-band with all-original material, writing, composing and performing since 2005.
My name is Evan Schafer. I am an independent (or "indie") musician with a strong grounding in traditional composition, but I like to think my material always has a unique and individual flair. I guarantee not being bored out of your gourd when turning on one of the records. I produce, mix, and engineer everything myself, and have done so since late 2005.

Story behind the song
Evan Schafer - CP80, bass, sitar, vocals I had been contemplating whether or not to have the entire first side of Morse Code be entirely made up of beautiful, melodic, new guitar material. But then, I realized that I already had "Idolize" ending the first side, and that was a pounding rock track. So I quickly found the chords for "Let Go Of The Familiar" on my Yamaha CP80, and put them together with the lyrics which I had written close to a month beforehand.
Lyrics
Flying away inside a dream In a hot air balloon without a destination You can see the distance ahead of you Let go of the familiar All the colors are reversed And your brain begins to tingle With the slightest touch of innocence That you let go of the familiar Time goes by in facets of rhyme Over orange trees down in the valley Of hope and love and dreams and care Here comes another feeling again Just forget what everyone said You’ve got to feel good in yourself Sailing in this hot air balloon Above everyone else in the world Crime of passion or crime of hate Slide it over onto a different slate Far or close, I’m counting on you To let go of the familiar
