Cape Breton on the Horizon

'Cape Breton on the Horizon' is my Cape Breton song. If you lived here you'd write a song about it too! This one used to have a traditional country air to it because I wrote it back in high school when I was going through a Traditional Country phase.

Story behind the song
I'm a singer/songwriter from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Canada and back in the Spring of 2005 I used n-Track to record a CD to sell around my area to tourists and whatever I could sell off stage after gigs. Things were on a tight budget that spring because I had just recieved a layoff from my 'last' computer job (I'm in trucking now) and n-Track fit like a glove dollar wise and feature wise. It was my first attempt at home recording and I did it with my SM58 microphone and a used M-Audio Delta44 soundcard from Ebay.
Lyrics
Look out there over the water Far as your eyes can see. There’s Cape Breton and I’ll tell you what she means to me. She’s more than just land She’s all you’ll ever want. Oh I have Cape Breton on my horizon. I’ve walked in her forests Drove along her Cabot Trail Seen the look off’s on Kelly’s Mountain and heard all her tall tales But now I long to see her For I travel and still go on But this time I have Cape Breton on my horizon. Chorus I’ve walked her shores Seen her beautiful sunsets Nothing compares when she’s at her best. You’ll remember when you travel on. And put Cape Breton on your horizon. The Mira River and Bras D’ Or Lake Are God’s own true wonders And if you’ve yet to see them they are yours to discover. Louisbourg, Glendale, and Iona Are places 'round my home Oh I’ve got Cape Breton on my horizon. She takes care of all of my old friends One’s she can hang on to Calls out to all the others hoping they can come home soon I don’t know what the future holds for me Maybe someday I’ll be home for good ‘till that day I’ll keep Cape Breton on my horizon.

This is a great atmospheric song. Really reminds me of Bruce Guthro. Really beautiful listen.
