Lyrics
No Train Stops Here Now (C) 2008 by Clint Anglin The train used to come through here - Forty cars and red caboose; I always waved to the engineer When the train come a rumblin’ through. My daddy took that train everyday To go to work in the mines, And when it would come payday We’d all take that train for a ride. People waited at the old depot; To take a trip downtown – That was more than fifty years ago; No train stops here now. The sound of wheels clankin’ on the track, The engine’s loud and mighty roar, Billows of smoke belching from the stack – It’s years since they’ve been gone. The shiny rails have gone to rust, And disappeared beneath the weeds; Though the ties have turned to dust, I still ride that train in my dreams. People waited at the old depot; To take a trip downtown – That was more than fifty years ago; No train stops here now. The train used to come through here - Forty cars and red caboose; I always waved to the engineer When the train come a rumblin’ through. People used to wait at the old depot; To take a trip downtown – But that was more than fifty years ago; No train stops here now.
