My older work is mostly MIDI based, 99% composed with a mouse by clicking notes onto a digital score. My newer work is more mixed-media, including both fairly standard MIDI work as well as recorded sections from acoustic and electric instruments.

Story behind the song
http://www.midi-contest.com <---see here if you want to know about the genre challenge. The point of it was for each participant to attempt a genre outside his/her comfort zone. I was assigned a "string quartet or polka." So, I decided to try both. In the end, I spent over 30 hours just in the notation and editing - not counting the hours spent studying up on the genres and planning the parts and transitions. Definitely the most time I've spent on a piece in a few years, but I learned a lot from it.
