Come take a ride to a place where race dictates ones being. Everything he/she is is separated by the color of ones skin. Come visit a place where Blacks are expected to "stay in their place". Claxton is the name of that place, and it only has four traffic lights and Blacks are separated from Whites by a railroad track. Everything that GA's music represents came from the experiences from living in Claxton, Georgia. His suppression as an athlete led to a life "in the streets". His story is a testimony to help others make different or better decisions in their lives and his music is created to encourage progression in people's lives. An analytical ear is needed while listening to his music. He focuses on a range of subjects, from political views to hood life to racial hatred. Hip-Hop is GA's way to reach out to people and it is a career that is conducive to his personality.

Story behind the song
The motivation behing "Product of the Hood" was not to glorify or justify any wrong behavior, but to inform other people who have no idea about the unjustified life that many Black people are forced to see. Of course we have choices, but they are limited to what we know and have been exposed to. Even then, what road would we take to get there? This song expresses the concerns and illustrates the dilemmas that circulate in the minds of many Black youths.
