Story behind the song
This song was started late 1994, I Came up with The chorus for The song Just The chords But only a snippet of a melody & Only a few lyrics I only Knew That I want the song to be called Burn for Me, In the meantime I put it aside (Usually spelling Death for an unfinished song for me because Generally I will write a song in one day If I dont finish it the day I start it it will never get Done, I normally start writing something else & by the time I remember about it I forgot how the damn thing went well needless to say I put The song in my Dead stack & forgot about it fast foward to the summer of 2000, i was in a new relationship & after some legal issues that caused me to put my music on hold for almost 2 years I decided to clean house, I opened my dead song file & started leafing through the 400 unfinished songs, It took 3 hours before I cam eacross The Page the had csrawled across The top of the page "Burn For Me" With no more Than a few chords written down & The word (Killer Chorus) scrawled next to the chords I was curious so I started strumming The chords & they sound Nice no great shakes I could remember what the rhythm was Or anything so I sat there perplexed & just keepsaying burn for me over & over in My head & finally it kicked In I had written a melody for The chorus but ahh what to do now, I still had not any real lyrics for this chorus, No verse nothing tangible, So I set about to finish writing the song hours Passed I totally forgot I had Band practice that evening so when Marc Fox came to pick me up to go I wasn't even ready he said man what has got you so fired up, I played him the slowly developing song & he was knocked out, He asked why I wasnt done yet & I told him what I have already told You, So he asked me to play it again & to point out where I was stuck for Ideas he gave me a few nice Chord turn arounds and helped me compleate The pre chorus & then there the Music & melody was done & once That happened The Lyrics came to me as I was getting My stuff Together for practice. I dictated to marc the lyrics as I did this he wrote down My stuff tweaked a few od words & by the time we were driving to practice we both were singing the song outloud, we started playing it with the band that night Thats the story of The song, This version here is My demo version everything palyed & sung By me But I always felt the band did a better Job & someday we will actually record it for an album
