Alexandra Ivan pop rock Romania Bucahrest singer songwriter
My name is Alexandra Ivan and I live in Romania. I started writing songs and performing at the age of 12; then I recorded my first songs in a local studio and filmed a video that was quite succesful in the area (Oradea - West of Romania). A few things about me: I write my own songs but still, I can't read notes, don't play any instruments and I have nothing to do with musical theory. Everything I do, musically, is based on feeling, it's raw, it comes straight from the heart - "no strings attached". Three years ago I moved to Bucharest and since then I have been struggling to get a record deal, which is not very easy right now for a pop-rock singer. Pop-rock is not considered to be "commercial". I have also been working as a composer/lyricist for some well-known Romanian artists like Foisorul de Foc or Etnic. I will hopefully be able to concentrate more on my solo album in the near future. The songs are already written and they are waiting to be recorded...

Story behind the song
3 a.m. in the morning, me, Mihnea and JD working on my track "Hear you say goodbye"... they come up with the idea of using some synths to create an instrumental background for a new track. Sitting on a chair right next to Mihnea, I was humming something to their instrumental and... they just opened the studio doorfor me and said "Get in there and sing". "What am I supposed to sing", I asked, tired and bored. "What you've just sung". So, I went into the studio, put my headphones on and... my voice just came out, in a way that I cannot describe, because I wasn't thinking at all of what I was singing. When I got out of the studio after 2 minutes, they were both staring at me... I had just recorded the first vocals to the track, improvising... perfectly. Too bad we had a fight over "Hear you say goodbye" and many other things and we never continued working on this wonderful song...
