Paper Cats is a lover's duo. We range through folk and anti-folk to rougher electrified rock and blues; Chris plays guitars--six string, twelve string, classical acoustic, electric, you name it--and Lauren mostly sings. Some of our work is Chris's solo guitar composition, some Lauren's solo ballads, but increasingly our work is collaborative, usually with Chris writing guitar parts and Lauren writing vocal parts. We are enjoying ourselves immensely.

Story behind the song
Chris wrote the tune, decided he didn't like it, and would have given up on it, but it's one of Lauren's favorites. She started vocalizing to it, and encouraged Chris to keep playing it. This recording is also, for note, single-tracked, played live together--we're thinking about re-recording double-tracked.
Lyrics
On the side of some old desert road Lying in the sand Staring up at red rock cliff face Hand in dusty hand And we'll dream Sweet dreams Dappled sunlight through old birch trees On a fading porch somewhere You lying with your head in my lap My hands in your hair And we'll dream Sweet dreams Dream, dream, sweet dreams. . . (Instr. bridge) I'll sing to you in a voice rough with age And you'll play for me hands old sweet and sage And we'll dream Sweet dreams . . .
