Heart Attack
© 2006 by Clint Anglin
I’ve been runnin’ around this same old track,
They say it’s bound to give me a heart attack;
I’m forty-four now and I’m still alive,
But no one knows if I’ll make forty-five.
I can’t slow down – I’m a man of action,
Got no time to stop for a cardiac infarction.
This world spins like a tornado on meth,
Tryin’ to keep up could mean my death!
Blood pressure’s high and energy is low,
They all say I’m too young to go;
And once I’m gone I won’t be comin’ back
From that big old heart attack.
I’ve worked day and night all of my life,
Don’t know my kids, hardly see my wife;
But I got a big house and fancy car
And they’ll have it all when I’m gone.
Yeah, I got millions in my bank account,
I got lots of power and plenty of clout;
I’m an important man in this town,
But I won’t get up when the big one knocks me down.
Blood pressure’s high and energy is low,
They all say I’m too young to go;
And once I’m gone I won’t be comin’ back
From that big old heart attack.
One day I might slow down or maybe not,
I want to get all the things that I ain’t got;
If I stop and look I fear I might see,
That I have everything but me.
I’ve been running ‘round this same old track,
They say it’s bound to give me a heart attack;
I’m forty-four now and I’m still alive,
But I wonder if I’ll make forty-five.
Blood pressure’s high and energy is low,
They all say I’m too young to go;
And once I’m gone I won’t be comin’ back
From that big old heart attack.
