A pop/rock song combining acoustic playing and vocalising with usage of music technology - hopefully not losing any of the subtle aesthetics and dynamics
pop rock downtempo ambien
thought provoking, sometimes pure pop, sometimes downtempo, always good to listen to.
The aim of Gushing Music is to produce professional rock/pop songs. The latest Gushing Music project has only been ongoing since February 2002. Earlier involvement by two of the present members saw them play with a pop group called “The Passengers” (later “Illegal Alphabet”) in the Edinburgh area in mid 1980’s. A brief collaboration in the early nineties was followed by a period of solo projects. The current project is simply called "gushing" It was with renewed enthusiasm that the two original members joined by a female vocalist set about recording songs for the CD “Years”. The collection consists of both old and new songs and in many ways followed the same style as before. A second CD project "A Different Kind of Blue" is now in development. Initial influences ranged from The Cure to the Cocteau Twins and the Blue Nile, this has now been blended with more contemporary influences such as Morcheeba and Moby. Lyrical content often includes topics of social injustice and general life reflections.

Story behind the song
That moment when you face something that you know you want to but it is difficult to do, either in a musical genre or in life generally
Lyrics
Did you ever think of a time When you would stand alone In the spotlight Step out, cross the line Face the demons Give them a sign Now that you’re older Fires have grown colder But standing tall, the curtain call Is all I long to hear It was always something That other people did Too shy to face yourself That’s why you hid Then one cold November day Those intrusive eyes Are the price to pay Now that you’re older, fires have grown colder Now that you’re older, fires have grown colder But standing tall, the curtain call Is all I long to hear I don’t really want to get there I just want to feel alive In the spotlight…….in the spotlight In the spotlight…….in the spotlight
