Simple songs that I hope will touch the heart of God, and maybe a few other people in the process.
I may never make it to Nashville, and I may never be on the radio, but that's okay. That's not why I do what I do.
I do what I do because I understand things best when I get them down in rhyming lines set to music.
I do what I do because I believe that my Heavenly Father enjoys the songs that few hear just as much as He enjoys the songs that everyone hears.
I do what I do because it's one of the best ways I know how to worship God, encourage friends, and uplift the body of Christ.
Story behind the song
I wrote this song while riding in a bus to Juarez, Mexico to build houses. at 6:00 a.m., everyone else on the bus except for me (and the driver!) was asleep. And as I watched the sun rise over the mountains and valleys of West Texas, I could not help but worship.
Lyrics
I will sing, oh Lord, for the mountain peaks
For the valley lows, for the in-between
I will sing, oh Lord, for the sunny days
For the cloudy nights, for the shades of gray
You are mighty God, the Creator King
For the grace You give, I will always sing
For the joy and pain both turned to beauty, Lord
I will sing Your praise, I will sing
Forevermore
I will sing, oh Lord, for the mountain peaks
For the valley lows, for the in-between
I will sing, oh Lord, for the sunny days
For the cloudy nights, for the shades of gray
You are mighty God, the Creator King
For the grace You give, I will always sing
For the joy and pain both turned to beauty, Lord
I will sing Your praise, I will sing
Forevermore
Only from the valleys do we see the mountain’s height
And only in the darkness do we long for shining light
So only through our trials do we learn to trust You more
Through the sorrow comes rejoicing, so I will sing, oh Lord
You are mighty God, the Creator King
For the grace You give, I will always sing
For the joy and pain both turned to beauty, Lord
I will sing Your praise, I will sing
You are mighty God, the Creator King
For the grace You give, I will always sing
For the joy and pain both turned to beauty, Lord
I will sing Your praise, I will sing
I will sing Your praise, I will sing
I will sing Your praise, I will sing
Forevermore
I will sing, oh Lord, for the mountain peaks
For the valley lows, for the in-between
