A wordy, nasty tune about nepotism!
Melodic, inventive pop/rock music. Singer/songwriter; Adult Alternative.
I've played in two bands that got small label deals... The Awakening in the mid 1980's, and One Hundred Days, in the 90's. Now, I just write whatever I want to.
I work at a studio full time, and the bulk of my job is writing, so I am always having to come up with material. The problem is, I spend way too little time on my own stuff after hours! I'm trying to change!!
My musical style is a scatalogical blend of everything I love about music...Melody, harmony, quirky shifts of mood, a constant desire to not do what is expected.
Story behind the song
Maybe because I had to work hard for things, I am less forgiving of those who have had it all given to them. I wrote this song about 2 such people. I find writing about my anger is better than acting on it... plus, I've been writing too many happy songs lately!!

He’s a kid, never alone,
And she’s been hidden by the throne,
Protected from the demons all her life,
Never finished anything,
Never started anything,
Just sat back and watched it materialize.
They will stick their thumbs deep in their asses,
Spread us thin with toxic gasses,
Watch all of their worries disappear,
When daddy pays for everything,
The wedding gown and diamond ring,
No wonder we all choke right down in tears,
Because you won’t be allowed,
To go free, you will be,
In bed with your family tree,
Playing your parts from your knees,
You’ll never know how wed you really are…
Why do I complain about it?
I won’t live or die because it’s
Gonna keep on going anyway,
I might convince myself that I could be
A source of truth inspite of it,
But no one cares about the stuff I say.
Because you won’t be allowed,
To go free, you will be,
In bed with your family tree,
Holding your pants down at your knees, at ease...
Engagement day is here to stay,
It never really leaves…
Sound the trumpets and alarms and,
Blow the minstrels with your charms,
It’s time to step right up and take your fate,
When the moment comes that you,
Bow your head and say “I Do,”
Will you tremble from the promise you just made?
Because it’s time to cut the cake,
One day soon, she’ll be “late,”
And maybe then, you’ll see,
It’s not so easy to be at ease,
You’ve made your bed with bloody sheets,
So is there anything else you need?
Rest at ease…
