Trumpet Fun

A drumbeat made up entirely of sounds a trumpet can make that aren't "trumpet playing". Valves, popping the mouthpiece, tapping bell, etc.

Boston/Memphis based student and film composer.
I am a student at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts pursuing a double major of Film Scoring and Music Synthesis. I have been writing music since I was a teenager and am constantly learning new tools, being inspired by new artists, and expanding my musical palette through the wealth of information I am learning at school and through my own practice. I love writing music and sound, so I don't merely hope that one day I find myself in the field of film audio, but I instead intend to push myself until that hope is realized.

Story behind the song
This was my first experiment at creating custom sampled instruments in Kontakt. All sounds on this are from my own trumpet (Yamaha). I pressed valves fast, I tapped the bell with different things at different places, I released valve compression, I popped the mouthpiece with all the different valve combinations to get the "melody" in this, etc. I think it came out pretty neat, and is completely homemade. Recorded with a Behringer B1 condensor Microphone, through a MOTU 828mkII Digital Interface, tweaked and assembled through Kontakt sampler, and finally arranged through Digital Performer 4.5. Enjoy! It's really goofy!
